okay okay... simple truths

This is Jeff not Janae. I thought that I would try this blog nonsense and add some tid bits about Janae so that everyone can see how wonderful she really is.

Okay, I have sat here for 45 minutes and have drawn a blank each time I try to come up with something to share about Janae. I typically don't have this type of problem. (I can usually think of lots of things, but I have writer's block)

Alright, I am trying extra hard this time. I got up and walked around trying to clear my head. I am back to write this time.

  1. Janae is very dedicated (reading, sleeping and reading some more).

This isn't going to work so I will try something else.

How about an update since the last posting?

Janae has read just about every book she has received lately. Please NO MORE books for awhile!!

We went to Oceanside (not my favorite beach) on Saturday with the Stake Youth. The girls played in the sand while I surfed. Haley took her turn on the surfboard and is happy to be alive. She says that she will go out again, but in smaller waves. We dropped down a decent size wave. It was pretty steep and I knew that we could pull it off, but as we dropped down Haley went sliding off the side of the board. I grabbed her foot and pulled her back but at the same time the wave broke and I flew off the board. We got tumbled a couple of times until the wave was done having its way with us. Haley was pretty shaken up, so I took her back to shore to rest. She is so close to catching a wave on her own and standing up. Maybe next summer.

On the way home, I was dropping off some of the kids that rode with us. A new beehive told us, "that she really didn't enjoy going to school because it ruined her creativity." I wish I would have had that much insight at age 12. I am sure that I would have quit going to college or at least finished a long time ago to salvage my creativity. She might be onto something.

I officially signed up for the Catalina Sprint Triathlon on November 8th. The Jeff Allbee fan club and other guests are welcome to come to Catalina Island to watch and pick me off the ground as I attempt to compete in the event. Yes, I am in the fat boy division (Clydesdale's) and not the age group. The Clydesdale's group is for 200 lbs and over. I don't think that I will ever get to weigh less than 200 lbs no matter what I do. Actually, the training is going well so far. I am trying to get 3 bike rides, 2 swims and 3 runs in per week. This requires running in the evenings on my swim days. Maybe by November I might actually be in shape for the event. Hopefully I can lose 50 lbs, so that I can fit into the free Triathlon t-shirt that they give all participants. The largest size is an XL, and at this point I don't feel too attractive in something that size. I have spent a lot of money on the work out gear and equipment. My philosophy is that I need the right equipment so that I don't get hurt and I train effectively. So I bought a new road/time trial bike. I dropped over 7 minutes off my time just by changing from my mountain bike to a real road bike. It is well worth the money I spent. If anyone is interested, there is a Triathlon at Lake Perris in May.

Nicole had her 3rd birthday on Sunday. Grandma Conley took her on a girls shopping trip. She came back with clothes, headbands and shoes. Yes, shoes. She's even worn them a couple of times. We had a Conley-Allbee family party for her on Sunday. She now has 2 favorite dresses instead of 1. She wore a new dress on Sunday to church. I suspect that the dress will no longer be church worthy by the end of the week if she keeps wearing it like she wears her old blue one. The poor old blue dress with pink flowers has seen better days, but she still insists on wearing it everyday whether it is dirty or not. With the addition of the new dress, we might have a chance to keep her dressed in a dirty dress rather than a filthy dress.

I am officially unemployed for the next 5 days. I finally got a job with Kenco Logisitics as the General Manager for the Carpenter Technology West Coast Distribution Center. I started interviewing with them in March and after 10 interviews, I got the job. It's for more money, more conducive promotion opportunities and relocation to Chattanooga, Tennessee sounds a lot better than Orlando, Florida. Yesterday was my last day with CHEP and I will start with Kenco on the 2nd. I thought that it would be nice to take a couple of days off in between and enjoy the holiday weekend.

We are looking forward to the Jack Johnson concert this Saturday. My mom says that my dad is going with us so far. It will be interesting to see if he likes it or not. I don't think he even knows who Jack Johnson is.

Hopefully I didn't ruin the vibe and flow that Janae has started with the blog, but I thought that it might need a man's touch once in a while to rough it up.

Two in one day...

A little about Jeff and me(Edith's tag)

1 . What is his name? Jeffrey, but I only call him that when he's not listening
2. Who eats more? him.
3. Who said I love you first? I don't remember. Technically I think it was him after I hinted it in a letter. I'll have to ask him.
4. Who is taller? he is--6'3", I'm 5'8".
5. Who is smarter? He claims street smarts. I claim book smarts.
6. Who is more sensitive? I would say I'm not sensitive, he would argue that I am, and if I was being honest with myself, he would be right. But he's more sensitive with movies (that's my rebuttal)
7. Who does the laundry? I do. Unless I get behind. But he does all the ironing.
8. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Me. Until I decide I want to sleep on the other side of the bed because of some unknown reason and he politely agrees.
9. Who pays the bills? Well, I write the bills (he has no idea when they're due), but the money he earns pays them.
10. Who cooks more? Me
11. What meals do you cook together? Anything on the grill, I prep the food and he takes over the cooking.
12. Who is more stubborn? Me
13. Who is the first to admit they're wrong? Both of us. We don't stay mad at each other very long.
14. Who has more siblings? Me, 4, him 3.
15. Who wears the pants in the relationship? We share them. Yeah, it can get a little awkward seeing that we wear different sizes, but it works.
16. What do you like to do together? I know what I like to do with him--Anything (almost anything, no motorcycles, please)
17. Who eats more sweets? I do without a doubt. We both like sweets but I have no self control.
18. Guilty pleasures? His: EBay and car shows, soda, and snicker's bars. Mine: Twilight and no bake cookies
19. How did you meet? Cottonwood Ward
20. Who asked who out first? He did.
21. Who kissed who first? He kissed me, but I think I set the stage pretty clearly.
22. Who proposed? He did. Probably about three different times. The first time was when he basically told me he wanted to marry me, which blind-sided me and left me in a sheer panic. The second time was nearly 7 months later when I wasn't in a panic and he knew I would say yes, and the third time was 5 months after that when there was a ring involved. Poor guy. I got the better end of the deal.
23. His best features? Physical: his eyes, mouth, face, shoulders, toosh, height... Character: his integrity, generosity, work ethic, ease with others, love for his kids... and the list goes on. I married him, right. Of course I think he's wonderful.

first day

current mood: preoccupied

So Haley started kindergarten last week. She was very excited by it all and insists that I have to make her the exact same lunch every day. She loves it so far and doesn't even whine when I get her up to get ready. That's amazing--the no whining part. She definitely takes after her mother when it comes to mornings. She was especially looking forward to today because she gets homework.

You can tell by her picture that she had no issues with leaving me behind. She gave me a hug and kiss and walked right in the door. Mom didn't cry either, but I felt a little lost as I drove home. Am I ready to give my baby over to perfect strangers?... Luckily for me, Haley is pretty independent and definitely sure of herself, so I'm confident she'll be just fine.
