A little about Jeff and me(Edith's tag)

1 . What is his name? Jeffrey, but I only call him that when he's not listening
2. Who eats more? him.
3. Who said I love you first? I don't remember. Technically I think it was him after I hinted it in a letter. I'll have to ask him.
4. Who is taller? he is--6'3", I'm 5'8".
5. Who is smarter? He claims street smarts. I claim book smarts.
6. Who is more sensitive? I would say I'm not sensitive, he would argue that I am, and if I was being honest with myself, he would be right. But he's more sensitive with movies (that's my rebuttal)
7. Who does the laundry? I do. Unless I get behind. But he does all the ironing.
8. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Me. Until I decide I want to sleep on the other side of the bed because of some unknown reason and he politely agrees.
9. Who pays the bills? Well, I write the bills (he has no idea when they're due), but the money he earns pays them.
10. Who cooks more? Me
11. What meals do you cook together? Anything on the grill, I prep the food and he takes over the cooking.
12. Who is more stubborn? Me
13. Who is the first to admit they're wrong? Both of us. We don't stay mad at each other very long.
14. Who has more siblings? Me, 4, him 3.
15. Who wears the pants in the relationship? We share them. Yeah, it can get a little awkward seeing that we wear different sizes, but it works.
16. What do you like to do together? I know what I like to do with him--Anything (almost anything, no motorcycles, please)
17. Who eats more sweets? I do without a doubt. We both like sweets but I have no self control.
18. Guilty pleasures? His: EBay and car shows, soda, and snicker's bars. Mine: Twilight and no bake cookies
19. How did you meet? Cottonwood Ward
20. Who asked who out first? He did.
21. Who kissed who first? He kissed me, but I think I set the stage pretty clearly.
22. Who proposed? He did. Probably about three different times. The first time was when he basically told me he wanted to marry me, which blind-sided me and left me in a sheer panic. The second time was nearly 7 months later when I wasn't in a panic and he knew I would say yes, and the third time was 5 months after that when there was a ring involved. Poor guy. I got the better end of the deal.
23. His best features? Physical: his eyes, mouth, face, shoulders, toosh, height... Character: his integrity, generosity, work ethic, ease with others, love for his kids... and the list goes on. I married him, right. Of course I think he's wonderful.

first day

current mood: preoccupied

So Haley started kindergarten last week. She was very excited by it all and insists that I have to make her the exact same lunch every day. She loves it so far and doesn't even whine when I get her up to get ready. That's amazing--the no whining part. She definitely takes after her mother when it comes to mornings. She was especially looking forward to today because she gets homework.

You can tell by her picture that she had no issues with leaving me behind. She gave me a hug and kiss and walked right in the door. Mom didn't cry either, but I felt a little lost as I drove home. Am I ready to give my baby over to perfect strangers?... Luckily for me, Haley is pretty independent and definitely sure of herself, so I'm confident she'll be just fine.

Summer of books

Current mood: suffering from reading withdrawal

It has been a summer of books for me. I think I have read (and re-read) at least a dozen books since May. I know, I know. How do I do that and take care of three children without neglecting their needs... I don't get enough sleep and I no longer watch any TV...

I have always loved books and stories, usually averaging a book or two a month, but not two or three a week. I don't think I have read this copiously since college. Currently I am in the middle of three books: The Kite Runner, The Painted Drum, and Girl in Hyacinth Blue.

My favorites so far have been the Women of Genesis series by Orson Scott Card, anything by Shannon Hale, and Stephenie Meyer's books. I feel like I have rediscovered my love of books and I can't seem to get enough. I am addicted. Pathetic, I know. But as soon as I finish one book I have to have another lying in wait or I suffer withdrawal. So if there are any fellow addicts out there that have a good twelve step program, my husband would appreciate it :)

Or I'll just opt for any good recommendations to feed the beast...
